EndNote works together with MS Word to allow you to Cite While you Write. You will need to have MS Word installed prior to running the EndNote installation and make sure that the Word program is not running at the time.
If you need to use either AGLC or Vancouver (Citing Medicine) referencing styles you will need to add these post-installation. View the STYLEs Tab for further information or see the notes with the installation package.

These are general instructions for a Windows installation but will be similar for a Mac environment.
- Download the installation package from the UWA Software site, logging in using your student Pheme.
- Accept the licenses agreement to proceed to download.
- A zipped installation package will be in your PC download folder.
- Unzip this and copy all of the content to a new temporary folder within the main document folder area on your PC
- Read the ‘Install Notes’ file for guidance on installation and updating of styles.
- Run the .msi installer package making sure the “License.dat” file is in the same folder as shown above.
- Make sure all applications are closed, especially MS Word, when you run the installation.
Tip: If during installation you are asked to type in a license key number the installation has been actioned incorrectly. Go back and check that the “License.dat” file is in the same folder.

Note: If you have a prior version of EndNote, a copy of your library will be made to make it compatible with V20. You will need to use this copy of your library going forward.

Unlike previous versions, it’s not necessary to uninstall your prior X9 version before installing V20. We would however recommend un-installing anything older than X9.
